PALCE & GAL Devices

I have been led to believe tha PALCE devices are fuse (and everything
else!) compatable with GAL devices.

Is this correct?

More specifically, can a JEDEC file aimed at a Cypress PALCE20V8 be
programmed into a Lattice GAL20V8 without modification?
