AFAIR (and I was there) the 8080 came out around 1976 and I am certain the
8051 came out in 1980. I suspect the 8085 came out somewhere between the
two but there was not much in it. The 8051 seems to me to be the oldest
surviving single chip microcontroller and easily gives the PIC a run for
its money.
