Project in Embedded sys??

I am a pre-final year student of Electronics & Comm. engg. I am
thinking of doing a project in embedded sys. in my final year.
Could anyone please give me some nice ideas for an innovative
project??
Are there any links where i could get more info?
What are the new developements in this field?
