If this is an undergraduate project, then assess and calibrate the
amount of effort you put into it. U/G's are not expected to make a
commercial product with an actual market waiting for it.

I suggest you pick something that interests you - football, vintage
computers, nudist beaches, it really doesn't matter - and imagine a
relatively simple appliance that could be used in conjunction with your
topic of interest. Make an autopilot for your model airplane, or a GPS
position tracker for your dog.

Please God do not make yet another student MP3 player. At an estimate,
there is now one slightly unique MP3 player design for every person in
the world less than 40 years old.
