Not really true. The prime candidate has 3-7 years of experience.

I know my resume isnt perfect, but I believe my passion for
the embedded field would help me get a job no matter what.

What have you done that shows this passion? It appears to be just
another box for you to check on your way to a management position.
Did you do embedded projects for your BS/MS? If not, where was
this passion?
