I was a charter subscriber to this magazine when it was Embedded Systems
Programming and I actually liked it when the electronic version became
available several months ago. However, beginning with the latest issue
(July), it is being distributed in Nxtbook format. This, in my opinion,
is the worst thing they have ever done.
It takes 24 seconds to flip a page over a DSL connection and have both
pages loaded. And it loads the right-hand page first. If you flip back a
page, you have to wait for the pages to be reloaded again.
They provide an option to download a page, but it doesn't work with my OS
of choice (Linux). The PDF version was so nice compared to this
"improvement."
GRRRR!
Okay, now I've complained to them and to the NG. I can go back to being
my usual nice self. Until next issue. ;-)

I remember when Zinio reader was touted for some trade publications -
I detested it. Lots of fluff, and it got in the way of reading it. I
installed it in a fit of idiocy and read just one copy of EE Times with
it.
I cancelled the subscriptions and removed (really removed, not just the
uninstall they provided) all the CRAP software they insisted on using.
(There was adware galore underneath their so-called secure reading
experience). The physical magazine at least didn't spam me.
Uninstalling, of course, is another subject ;)
