SOIC Reel or tube ?

end of the year, while cleaning up the laboratory (we already can see some
surface of the table), there is a bunch new SOIC ICs inside tubes around
here.
8mm tape n reel storage management is fine and I put the reels into a box
and the box into a shelf. Everything with consecutive values and everything
is fine - except the damned tubes with small quantities of SOIC or exotic
case of power SMD. Some of the tubes contain only a few pieces what would
be possible to put them into SMD containers but if we like to use them in
feeders we have to put them back in the tube with the danger of bend wings.
I considered to put the tubes into a drawer but most time there is only one
tube for each value and the slots in the drawer should be smaller than a
finger for not wasting to much space. I also considered a perpendicular
grid with rows like a staircase but unfortunatley the tubes have diffrent
length.
How do you store your tubes?
