I agree and the first edition is IMHO better than the second
because it covers multiple languages and hence multiple
approaches to OOD.

The first edition of Meyer predates the first Booch. But the
first edition of Meyer didn't say much about design! Booch was
the first (I think) to focus primarily on design. (Just as
Schlaer-Mellor were first, followed by Coad-Yourdon to focus on
analysis)
