Thanks for taking the trouble to scan this article. It's worth having
a 'fresh' copy available in HTML (especially once all the errors have
been corrected ;-).

One comment: I notice none of the pictures in the article -- and there
were quite a few -- have been reproduced. I assume this is because the
quality of the illustrations is too poor in the PDF, but I'm wondering
if these are any better in the Proceedings of HOPL (History Of
Programming Languages 2) book, and could be scanned from there.
