You could browse the books on Safari (assuming they are published
there). You have to pay to read the book, but the fee starts at $2 per
book (minimum of $10 per month) so it is much cheaper and quicker than
buying the book. You can still get an idea of the contents without
paying. See http://safari.oreilly.com for more info. I find it a
excellent resource for all sorts of technical questions.
