XP question on "On-site customer"

How to hanle the XP requirement of "on-site customer" with offshore
projects? Developers are thousands of miles away from the real
customer.

Another possibility, what if the customer is a one-man show (but has a
large software requirement). How do you involve the cuswtomer on a
full-time basis?
