We have a small number of accountancy apps which were written in an "OO"
style, using Visual Basic about 6 yrs ago. We are moving more towards a
web services platform (with heavy java deployment) and would like to
standardize.
Any views on the best thing to do with the legacy apps written in VB? In
other words, have any of you found compatibility or performance problems
in having VB objects working with possible java counterparts? Would it be
better to converge on pure java anyway and start from scratch? The VB
classes aren't that complex - in fact I've been told that some of them are
quite kludgy and could do with a rewrite anyway.
Sorry if this is O/T. I could have posted to a VB or Java NG I suppose,
but I wanted some unbiased opinions from an OO design POV.
Thanks in advance.
