Actually there are a lot of patterns for software development. In fact,
one can regard the entire field of Process Engineering as recognizing
such process patterns. Patterns were used in other disciplines long
before they were employed for software design. As a result entire
frameworks of patterns have been developed and applied of software
engineering -- the entire alphabet soup of CMM, ISO, TQM, RUP, XP, etc.
represent frameworks of such patterns.
