Yeah sorry point taken-the terms were taken from a sample exam paper as
follows:
Distributed systems programming has evolved from TCP/IP Sockets to RPC
to Distributed Object Computing and more recently to Component-Based
Systems. Starting with Sockets, outline the main developments and
abstractions that have been introduced to aid programmers in making it
easier to program distributed systems and how those developments have
affected building distributed systems that are more reliable.
Explain the architecture and workings of the proxy/stub model in two
distributed technologies of your choice.
Support for distributed invocation is a prerequisite and not the
principal concern when constructing resilient distributed systems.
Discuss.
I just got very confused with all the terms-it seemed that we were
being asked to explain the same technologies throughout all the
questions.....
