Just wanted to give my vote for this post as the best argument ;)

Maybe the problem also is that some persons here are truly hard-core OO
fanatics and absolutely unable to understand that there's a life
outside OO. OO are really great for some things, and just suck for some
other things.

Good points, but then, this is an OO-list.

There are probably great reasons to write emails to a list of OO-users, who want help with OO-problems, only to tell them that areas in which OO sucks ... but I can't really think of any immediately.

There are probably great reasons for writing to alt.hobby.sewing to tell them that sewing is a ridiculous solution to the problem of drilling for oil in Alaska ... but I can't think of any immediate reasons for that, either.

It is healthy - in fact, it's crucial - to have nay-sayers on any list, to make sure we don't delude ourselves into thinking that OO solves all problems; topmind is a great poster for keeping OOers on their toes; but if you are going to nay-say, at least propose technical background, and don't just say, "OO is crap. Procedural programming/UML/assembler/whatever is just better, and if you can't see that, then you're stupid."

Having said all that, the newsgroups are public, so people will probably say whatever the hell they like; the main point is that some people, who have OO experience, offer solutions to OO problems posed by people having difficulty with OO - as long as that intercourse (matron!) isn't lost in the noise, then the this newsgroup has a purpose.
