Head First Design Patterns

Hi All,
I just finished a design patterns class for my master's degree. In this
class we used the original GoF text and went through each one of the
patterns (and a few more not in the text).
I liked the class a lot and it changed the way I think about design. Now I'm
eager to continue learning about design patterns, and I bought this Head
First Design Patterns. So far I'm in the chapter 1 and I'm enjoying a lot.
The original GoF text presents its content in a very familiar academic
format, in contrast with the HFDP text, which is in a very informal
language, full of pictures and jokes.
I still cannot comment on how effectively they teach the patterns since I've
just started, so I wanted to know your opinions about the book.
Cheers
Padu
