SESSIONS

Organising a session is the best way to learn from the conference. It provides
an opportunity to share your experiences, to get feedback on your ideas, try new
session formats. It's your opportunity to shape the conference to your interests.
Session organisers will get free admission to the conference.

Format

We believe that the best way to learn is through hands-on experience, and
therefore encourage sessions that involve interaction and audience participation.
We are also looking for some real life experiences (both good and bad) of
applying agile techniques. Successful sessions from previous years have been
tutorials, workshops, simulations and games. Sessions will be organised into
four tracks over two days. A session may be 1, 2 or 3 hours in duration.

A session can address a topic that involves any stakeholder or aspect of agile
development. E.g. customers; business users; analysts; managers; developers;
deployment; support; recruitment. We are looking for sessions that draw on
real-life experience, with ideas that can be applied in the everyday business
of software development. The broad areas we would like to cover are:
- Introduction to Agile Development
- Experience reports from different areas (software houses, financial
institutions, bespoke and product development), both successes and failures.
- Technical topics
- People and process
Other possible session topics include, but are not limited to: contracts for
agile software projects; continuous process improvement; transitioning to an
agile process; the economics of agile software development; techniques to improve
pairing; scaling agile development processes; agile free software and open source
projects; developing mission critical software; agile project management; tools
and techniques. Above all we are looking for new sessions with fresh ideas.
If you've never presented a session before, or have had an idea for a session in
the back of your mind for a while, write it up and submit it to XP Day 6.

If you'd like some advice before submitting, please contact the programme chairs
at submissions@xxxxxxxxx

POSTERS

Posters are a lightweight way to attract the attention of conference attendees.
A poster can present a work in progress, some recent thinking or even invite
answers to a question. Suitable topics for posters include: a new technique
you've found; a new application of an old technique; lessons you learned on your
most recent project; a tool you have been developing; a question you would like
answered by the audience; a survey for the audience to complete; a disruptive
idea you think will challenge the audience's preconceptions.

Format

Use a mix of any or all of...
- T-Shirts: Wear your poster on your back during the conference to break the ice
and start conversations. We will arrange printing the poster onto the shirt.
- Interactive Posters: Design a poster that the audience will contribute to. We
will hang a marker pen beside the poster to allow anybody to fill in the gaps.
- Coffee Talk: Stand beside your poster during coffee breaks to discuss it with
passers by.
- Something Else: Surprise us with an innovative idea for a poster format

Posters will be put up on large boards, about the size of three flip- charts next
to each other, so you will need to think about how to layout and print your
material.
