Re: More buzz wanted

Hmm, food for thought. I don't mind Java or web just not the two of
those together. I think my objection comes down to the way they've
implemented their web API's. Everything is so long winded.

They've had a long and tortued path. First Servlets, then JSP, Filters,
TagLibs, then JSTL/EL, then JSF, then Studio Creator ... all they
needed was something as simple as Perl's "here documents" - then you
can deal with the code/html crossroad neatly and trivially.

Even if I currently am a PHP fan, I think that Java is a good platform
for web development. If the hosting costs for Java was as low as for
PHP, I would prefer Java. JSP is almost as simple as PHP and more
powerful. Filters and taglibs are features that I would like to have in
the PHP (LAMP) stack too. If you find them to complex, just don't use
them. They are optional. Servlet is also nice for giving you
pre-compiled web pages. But I don't use them for "normal" pages.
Regarding JSF, don't bother, like the rest of us. Another failure from
Sun Microsystem.
