PYTHON:
The best language I have ever seen. Provide both OO and functional
features. Very compact and readable source code. I love the dynamic
properties feature. The standard library looks impressive, but maybe
not at the level of java. I guess that you sometimes has to rely on
external native programs. It is also easier to find web hosting for
Python, than for Java. There are also a java version of Python, called
Jython.

PHP:
There are a number of languages that are far better than PHP, but it
provides OO features but doesn't force you to use classes like Java.
The standard library is impressive and the number of plugins and
availible free 3rd party script is huge. The community is large. And
like I said before, the hosting cost are minimal. The fact that both
WebSphere and WebLogic will support PHP is a strong evidence that PHP
will be a strong player in the future.
