I think you are mixing two things:

- object oriented programming which hasn't problem in itself but I agree that some object model do have problems (the so-called closed models).

- inclusive polymorphism and static subtyping. Since the choice of covariance - contravariance types is context-dependent (google for Scala language), you will probably have to wait for a decade or so before something simple and productive arise. And this is also why there is so many religious wars down there on this topic.

May I suggest that you read the paper on the C object System?
