I think they are very closely related, but I am pretty much limited to
the Executive Summary level. Both develop applications at a very high
level of abstraction and make heavy use of "canned" implementations.
In effect GP employs an IDE that allows one to cobble together
applications using predefined, generic elements. (One can also create
fundamental elements.) HPVEE does a similar thing for creating
electronic test programs and COM developers also build applications that
way.
At that simplistic level the main difference is that the translation
approaches employ a formal programming language (UML+AAL) rather than
LEGGO-like construction within an IDE.
I hadn't heard of Abstract Action Language (AAL) before. Thanks!
