There are better formats out there. Yaml, JSon, etc. And for
transporting data between machines a binary representation like x.409
would be better.
1. Your awareness of current encoding schemes is as current as your
references to Liskov/Wings' work.
Did they have electricity when the term "X.409" was used (for the
reader : X.409 is the CCITT - God even that name died aeons ago -
"blue book" / 1984 - designation for what became ASN.1) . :-)
2. Even ASN.1 has an XML transfer syntax (encoding scheme)
nowadays.
