No wonder so few web hosts support java...

Well I spent a couple days trying to get IIS to work with java. What a
nightmare.

It seems like you have to go with Tomcat to do anything. The ONLY way
I can get it to function is as a standalone server. Which is kind of a
sorry solution.

There are 10 different how-to's out there you can find, and none of
them are the same and none of them actually seem to get it to work.
The ones on the jakarta site itself are full of incorrect information
that will lead you to dead-end alley wondering if they guy writing
them just gave up about halfway through.

I would use tomcat as a standalone server for the java stuff, but I
fret over the security issues. If they can't even write documentation
well enough to integrate it with IIS, or simply have IIS hooks on the
install... well security seems a bit more complicated.

Am I totally missing something? Is there something besides tomcat? I
can only imagine the integration with apache is just as bad as IIS,
since so few web hosts out there will touch java. And the ones that
I've tried have a lot of trouble with it.
