Well, if you have the programming experience, you could always write an app
to hook keypress messages for a certain window. This way you could replace
whatever keys you wanted with new messages that sent strings to the window
as multiple keypress messages. But all-in-all, I have found that there is
no need for such things. Most languages have a condensed syntax already,
like C (my personal fav).

Perhaps you just need a more comfortable keyboard. Everybody has their own
preference. I like the mini-104's, my father likes the ergo-boards, and
most other people like inet-boards. Most of todays keyboards come with
extra keys that are somehow programmable. Don't know if they can be
programmed for string output, though...
