While considering the "implications", it's well to do a bit of
research and read the memo itself. First, it's unfortunate that the
leakers don't attach a date to the memo. It seems highly likely that
the original was dated. According to Sun.the memo is two years old,
written before the first release of 1.4. Second, the memo says that
most of the problems cited were not inherent in Java, but problems in
the Solaris implementation of the JRE. There seems to be an
implication that the Sun Java developers are paying more attention to
other JRE's, such as Windows, than they are to Solaris.
I don't think the memo has much applicability to the question of Java
now versus C#.net now, and even less applicability to Java tomorrow
vs. C# tomorrow. I say C# since imo that's the closest viable .net
language.
I probably don't need to point out that the thread title is nonsense -
Java is not comparable to .net, they're two entirely different things.
