The idea is simple.
I have a set of applications that are started and are supposed to
read a set of environment variables. ( The applications exist.
I do not have access to the source. In case anyone thinks it is
a simple matter of modifying the code. ) The applications
are supposed to start from "the Windows desk top", ie
from the StartUp Menu, double clicking through a shortcut on
the desktop, a shortcut in the SendTo menu. The variables
the applications use contain sensitive information. So 1)
I want to minimise the time it is accessible, 2) I want to
change these values often. The basic idea I've tried is to: set
the environment variables ( via a program which reads and writes the
registry entries ) and start the application. However the process
does not seem to pick up the environment variable.
Is there a way to get the desktop environment to determine that
the environment variables change and get it to reload them?

This is an address I ignore.

There is a difference between
*thinking* you know something,
and *knowing* you know something.
