entry-level job ideas... ??

I formerly worked during the dot-com boon, and through its crash. I
was proficient in front-end and mid-level website integration, tying
front and back-end languages together.

I eventually received my Sun Certification as a Java 2 Programmer, but
wound up leaving the computer field for personal reasons before I had a
chance to utilize my Java programming skills on-the-job. (I left about
the end of 2002).

Any ideas about where to start to get a foothold back in the industry?
I'm afraid that much of my front-end knowledge might be outmoded. And
while I have the skills and certification to become a full-fledged
programmer, I either do not have hands-on for certain tasks, or have to
review and update my older knowledge about other tasks.

Are there any jobs out there where one can just get a foot in the door
and start doing coding -- ANY TYPE OF CODING -- right off the bat,
while I continue to study and boost my skills back to where they should
be?
