what kind of computer for programmer ?

Hey !

I want to buy machine exactly for what I'm going to do.
What is the best computer for programmer ?
I'm considering x86 , SPARC, PowerPC.
Is there a big difference between time of compiling on a
machine with x86 1GHz CPU and SPARC 500 MHz ? Or maybe
PowerPC with 700 MHz would be better ?

I'm not having any problems with Unix so that argument won't work
here.

I would be grateful for any advice.

Paul
