I've heard it said that the DOC format is based on the RTF format, so
maybe you should start with that. However you better check it out
first as I am not sure this is the case.
Alternatively, take the extensive information and 'skim' it. How good
a plan that is depends whether you are good at doing that - it is
probably what I would try.
