It is really a question of "getting used to". The level of difficulty
greatly depends on the platform (especially if you go outside of the arena
of PCs). Back in the days I thought I couldn't get my head around it, but
then I read Mastering Turbo Assembler. It is old, and I am not sure if new
editions are being printed and if it is x86 assembler you are trying to
learn.
I would recommend doing all the exercises that are in those books. That is
probably the best way to learn, and a good book (be it for novices) will
ease into the matter.
