Executable doesn't know location of data files

Hello,

I'm writing a board game in C using the SDL library; however, I'm having a
problem with installation.

Here is a code snippet:

-- snip ------
// LOAD IN THE GAME BACKGROUND
printf("Loading the game background image.\n");
temp = IMG_Load("data/images/background.png");
background = SDL_DisplayFormat(temp);
SDL_FreeSurface(temp);
-- snip ------

So, when I do the old three step compile and install:

../configure
make
sudo make install

.... the executable, called patolli, get's installed in /usr/local/bin/
.... the images get installed in /usr/local/share/Patolli

What do I need to do to make sure the executable knows where the images
are installed?

-- Tony
