I think we're just responding to the OP's definition.

In any case, often the domain knowledge in your sense is a side
effect of domain knowledge in his sense. (I learned a lot about
banking while learning about Perl and CGI programming, for
example. Only the Perl and CGI knowledge is still useful to me,
