Re: virus makers and defense systems

It has come to my attention that there are many idiots out there who
are MAKING VIRUSES in order to market their anti-virus software.

It is easy to make claims, but rather harder to provide convincing evidence
to support them.

The
slimey asses are also inserting these malicious codes into some very
innocent objects, such as media codecs and media. Know, what I want to
know, is how often does this have to happen before the more honorable
of us start hunting them down and kicking their servers? What they're
doing boils down to extortion.

Nobody forces you to use anti-virus software. And nobody forces you to run
programs with viruses in them. If you don't want to trust a program - i.e.
if you don't want to make yourself vulnerable to a program - then don't run
it. Or get the sources, inspect them, and compile them yourself on a clean
system when you're happy that they're kosher.

In a prime situation, I would like to
blow their systems into the water.

Anyone want to help me track these scumbags down and make THEM PAY?

A virus is simply a computer program. It cannot execute unless you give it
permission to execute. So don't give it permission. End of problem.
