HTML is not a good startup.
I would recommend you C language. C is often used, popular, it has
implementations on many operating systems. It is a "base" language for C++
and C#. Programming in C is a useful skill.
Read "The C Programming Language" by K by Brian W. Kernighan and Dennis M.
Ritchie.
