I have a programming background but never done Web Programming before.
I would like to get to Server-Side Web programming. I need your advice
for today best candidate to future web development, I mean tell me
which of the following do you suggest that I put spend my time and
energy on it so It has a good future and I can get a job or I can
develope great web pages and it does not obsolete soon:
VB
Java Script
PHP
Perl
Others ....
For example if I become master in PHP is it a good path or any others
is the best candidate? Personally I think PHP gives me a rapid path to
get to server-base programming but I want to make sure it does not
vanish anytime soon.
JavaScript is not going anywhere, particularly with solutions such as Ajax being used with it. And what do you mean by server side Web programming? There is backend processing with Web solutions. But in order to be s good Web developer, one must know both sides of the coin, client and server/backend sides.
Perl and PHP are Linux while VB and C#.NET Net are on the run across platforms and languages. I respect the Linux solutions. But I am a .NET developer and the door is wide open for me in creating client and /server/backend with Web services, .NET NT services .NET Console Applications, N-tier Domain driven solutions, with NT services and Console Applications as part of the total Web solution.

I am not what I consider a total Web developer as Web development is not the whole IT solution. There are also client/server solutions that most developers don't have a clue, Linux, MS, or otherwise, about developing.
..NET is not dying, period, as much as some would like it to do that. But it's not going anywhere.

You can take a look at Ajaxpro for .NET and JavaScript.
