I have a programming background but never done Web Programming before.
I would like to get to Server-Side Web programming. I need your advice
for today best candidate to future web development, I mean tell me
which of the following do you suggest that I put spend my time and
energy on it so It has a good future and I can get a job or I can
develope great web pages and it does not obsolete soon:
VB
Java Script
PHP
Perl
Others ....
For example if I become master in PHP is it a good path or any others
is the best candidate? Personally I think PHP gives me a rapid path to
get to server-base programming but I want to make sure it does not
vanish anytime soon.
JavaScript is not going anywhere, particularly with solutions such as
Ajax being used with it. And what do you mean by server side Web
programming? There is backend processing with Web solutions. But in
order to be s good Web developer, one must know both sides of the coin,
client and server/backend sides.
Perl and PHP are Linux while VB and C#.NET Net are on the run across
platforms and languages.
That isn't true.
Perl and PHP work across many platforms including nearly all *nix and
Windows.
.NET solution such as VB and C#.NET are unlikely ever to work well on
anything but Windows.
I disagree. VB is not going to work on any other platform, because it's
proprietary to MS
Yes.
and can only be run on the MS platform and C# is not
and is a standard.
C# is in a standard, I didn't say that it wasn't. I said that it is
"unlikely to work well on anything but Windows". That is because many
of the many useful parts of .NET are not part of any standard.
And again, what makes you an authority on this? You are not an authority
on anything.
And lets get one thing straight and no offense to you, but you're
absolutely no authority on anything other than your little world and
your worthless existence on the this Earth. Your view points and
opinions are worthless to me I would say here. What you're saying about
C# doesn't hold an ounce of meaning, worth or truth, because others
that do have the say so are saying different about C# and C++ .NET.
You can say that my views are worthless to you all you like, that does
not answer any of the original points.
It's not intended to answer anything. But rather that you got an
opinion. Your opinions are a dime a dozen just like everyone else,
everyone got one and they're pretty much worthless.
Sure, as Dirty Harry said.
I suggest you show
some kind of proof yourself about your points, other than, this lip service.
As an example...
There is a project to implement .NET on Linux called Mono. On it's
website it mentions that Microsoft have patents on critical parts:-
http://www.mono-project.com/FAQ:_Licensing#Patents
Microsoft have agreed to allow others to use the patents with no
charge. But they could revoke that permission at any time.
