contract programming across the world

Anyone try to do this? Idea is to take a 6 month to a year contract
somewhere...play around during the off hours and in that way see the
world. Problem is I'm kind of at a loss how to go about it. How to
search for a short time position outside your own country? Seems like
it should be easy...at least in this country there are contract
positions all over...a full time is a touch harder to find.
