a "nanosecond" (a short piece of wire) around to display at
her lectures.

How long is "short"?

About a foot.

Okay. 1000000000 feet is around 3e8 metres, so clearly GMH thought that
electricity travels at the speed of light in vacuo.

Obviously, she couldn't carry a piece of vacuum
so the "nanosecond" had to represent the speed of electricity
through copper wire, not light through a vacuum.

Is it your claim that electricity travels through copper wire at the
speed of light-through-copper-wire

Yes.

(i.e. 0 m/s)?

No. Visible light is just a small subset of electromagnetic radiation.
The fact that copper is opaque to visible light doesn't mean it's
opaque to all frequencies otherwise your television wouldn't work.

I don't have a television[1]. :-) But your point is taken.

So we have established that you are claiming that electromagnetic radiation
can be propagated through copper wire, and that electricity travels at this
speed. Is it, then, your claim that electricity is electromagnetic
radiation? Or (if you are correct that electricity travels at the speed of
light) is this merely a coincidence?

[1] At least, not within the meaning of the relevant UK Act of Parliament. I
do, however, have a playback monitor for viewing data prerecorded onto DVD
and VHS media.
