Consider it an investment in society, from which society as a whole
will benefit. If you doubt the value of such investments, consider the
fact that nobody here is charging you money for answering your
questions. So you are benefiting from other people's investing of
their expertise.
Very true - and I am thankful that you (and others) take the time to
answer these questions.
However, that does not imply that in return one should do the same. It
is expected, not demanded.

Besides, licenses can't protect code - if we open source our code and
someone uses it, and makes a profit from it, that's our loss.
No, sir, it isn't - it's their profit, and no skin off your nose. Who
loses, for example, from the fact that we are answering your questions
here without charging you?
Well, as a matter of fact, those who answer could have not done it, and
spent their time on something that earned them money.
Or they could have charged for an answer. I know this is not the way
usenet works, and again, I'm thankful for it.
Look, if you don't want to go Open Source, that's fine, nobody is
forcing you to do that - but your thinking about Open Source is very
muddled.
Could be.

Then it's up to SourceForce to stop this potential behaviour. Not me.
No, sir. It's up to you to behave like a responsible adult. If you are
not one such, then I suggest you return to your sandpit.
There's nothing "irresponsible" about using a free service beyond some
limits. Besides, whether or not I release the source code, SF would not
mind. They have earned their money whatever my choice would be.
Possibly. Nobody ever got rich following rules, though...
Enjoy prison.
Wow. Nicely blown out of proportion.
Anyway, never mind OS & SF, I'm off looking for other free hosting
solutions.
