What would be the drawback of leaving your own PC on all the time?
The cost - I've tested this before, and it costs me about 1 euro a day to keep a PC running all day. That's 365 euro each year! That's a lot for a little hobby project!
If you could pick a Mac Mini somewhere cheap, they only draw about 40W,
which amounts to 30 kilowatt-hours every month. At US electric rates,
that's only about $3 month, so less than 3 Euros/month, unless electricity
is more expensive in Europe.
