You should realize that Usenet is a 'best efforts, no guarantees'
delivery mechanism. There is never any reason to assume that your
reader has ever read, or ever will read, any of your previous
glorious offerings. That is why most replies contain sufficient
quotes from predecessor messages that they stand by themselves, and
why most newsreaders are able to easily generate such quotes,
together with suitable attribution lines.

If you didn't see the previous links then there is no reason for
you to comment on the posting. The proper response to a posting
that you do not understand or are uninterested in is no response
at all.

No, the proper response is to advise the miscreant of his/her
mistakes, so that s/he is able to correct the problem in future.
At the same time the information is of use to other posters, who
can avoid the same errors.
