I thing I hate about OE is it is not fault-tolerant. IMO, it is its worse fault.
If, for any reason, your ISP's news server has a glitch and OE cannot read from a newsgroup, the first thing it does is wipe out any saved threads (because the newsgroup does not exist, right?). Later when ISP's news server is back to normal, you have lost all those saved threads, possibly marked etc. It never asks you what you would want to do.
So yeah OE sucks, I have better newsreaders on hand, but I loathe the chore of setting them up each time I upgrade to new PC.

of course, it is convinient to use the same app for news and email, but, at present, I use hotmail, which is only really supported by OE...
