Perl -> Pythonhttp://www.python.org/, Ruby, etc.
In may opinion, things like Python will used more and more for an Perl
replacement. (I worte thousend of lines of code for internet service
providers... and other things.
I have a python book, but couldn't really get motivated to do much
with it. Perl has more
modules in CPAN and I allready knew Perl. Rails got me motivated to
learn Ruby, but there was never any motivating factor to
learn python, though I believe it is a good language.
The Problem with Perl is, that you can do
one thing in too many different ways.)
I have heard Perl has many ways to do things, but I never tried to
figure out what that really means. I'm not sure how that goes into the
design of the language ?
Mostly I just figured out what I could do and didn't try to figure out
how many ways I could do it.
