Excellent suggestions! Did your professors have any initial problems
with your use of a
digital camera?

No. In each case I requested and received permission to photograph
before the start of the course. No flash, and you need to be able to
zoom, so it may be beyond e.g. a cellphone camera.

Also, I forgot to mention memorization as an issue. In industry, nobody
seemed to care which data I had memorized and which things I needed to
look up. The only thing that mattered was whether I had the answer.

Professors seem to be VERY concerned about how much you can
memorize for a few days - that gets tested along with just about
everything else through closed-book tests. I have no idea why.

An industrial workplace is the ultimate team project, the most
important
issues there are the ability to look up things and apply them to your
work.
Individual accomplishment is not a prized virtue, and original
research
is discouraged because it costs less money to use something off the
shelf
or from open source.

An academic workplace is far different. I hope to find the individual
recognition there that I seldom obtained from industry, but there is a
price to pay for this: collaboration is considered dishonests because
the
purpose of academia is to develop the individual first, the original
research
made by the individual is a byproduct of that development.

At least that is my observation.
