Hello everyone!
I'm learning to use pointbase and I'm having a lot of trouble with
it, first of all I would like to tell you that I'm using Solaris X as
the operating system, so I downloaded the installer for a Unix
environment, I can install them properly but when I try to connect to
a database it gets stuck. I installed the complete version, so I have
the embedded, micro, tsp and the server option editions, when I try to
use the server option, what I do is the next:
1.- I go to /pointbase55/tools/serveroption and I run the
startserver.sh, which turns on the server
2.- I click on startconsole.sh, which shows me the GUI for
pointbase
3.- It shows me a window where I have some options to connect to a
database, with the next information:
a) Driver: com.pointbase.jdbc.jdbcUniversalDriver
b) URL: jdbc:pointbase:sample
c) User: PBPUBLIC
d) Password: I have tried with the password (PBPUBLIC) and with
no password, none of them has worked
4.- Then I select open specified database and I click on OK ...
after this the DBMS gets stuck, it just shows a message saying :
Connecting to database, jdbc:pointbase:sample ***PLEASE WAIT*** I can
go to the downtown driving my bike, go to the movies and when I come
back, I see the same screen ... can somebody help me?
