I just completed 2 Java courses for an online university. I would like

recommend a good textbook I can purchase from Barnes and Nobel or
another book reteller to advanced my learning and practice of Java.
Have a look at the books recommended on SQL and JDBC.

I don't know which database you are using but for Oracle, i'd
recommend my book @ http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1555583296
It covers JDBC but also Java in the database (up 10 Oracle 10g R2) and
other database and Java related topics.
