panel-color question..

this is really weird, I was on 1.5, reverted back to 1.4.2. now my grays here are screwed up... I want all grays to be that light gray in border ('border' is a panel where everything else is sitting on) and the right panel.. now that I switched back to 1.4.2. area where 'send' button sits is a darker gray (on 1.5 everything was same gray..) I want to control this color, I did

  leftPanel.setBackground(borderBg);

which is same I have for that bg panel that gives me the border, namely

  borderPanel.setBackground(borderBg);

left panel consists of JTextPane, JTextArea, then 'send' button.. I want everything that's not blue to be same light gray.. thank you very much..
