Is Swings faster than AWT Components.

Hi All,

I am new to Swing applications. I came to know that Swing applications
are faster than applications with AWT components. But, I couldn't know
the exact reason for this fact. If it is vice versa, plz give me
reasons for that also. I badly need this. This is the one which is
putting me in trouble all the time. Can anyone give me exact reason for
this. I would be grateful to you all. Also kindly explain other aspects
of performance, how to use the Swing components in a better way to make
it useful.
