does anyone have experience on creating and using a custom LayoutManager
Yes.
in NetBeans (5.5)?
No. (well, not me)
...What needs to be written in addition to the actual
LayoutManager class in order to have NetBeans accept it?
I thought it just needed to be imported, unless you
are referring to using it in the 'form dezigner' or whatever
the NetBeaniacs call it.
That exactly is the pain point.. and it looks like, now that I have also
spent some time reading the NB mailing list archives, that this is not
necessarily trivial, and that the NB interface for importing custom layout
managers does change from time to time...
But.. are you sure you need a custom layout at all?
Had you considered/tried *nested* (core ) layouts
instead of a custom layout?
My target is a layout in the form of a circle (or an arc), and at
least so far I couldn't get an idea on how to use the regular layout
managers for that.
