Guess I don't understand how Java is doing this. It seems that all disk
reads and writes use the home directory unless I explicity set the path
for each file operation. This is a chore when these are distributed
among multiple threads in different libraries. In C++ I can set this
directory once in "main" and everything is taken care of?
